The thermal class of a fan is an extremely important issue to take into consideration during the design phase of an electrical panel.
The thermal class, in fact, indicates the maximum recommended temperature in which the fan can operate in continuous use, to ensure a longer life cycle for the fan itself, and for the components it is called upon to cool.
Some standards contribute to the international determination of the thermal classes:
- the EN 60085 standard assigns the thermal class based on the electrical insulation system used
- product standards, such as e.g. EN 60335-1, relate the thermal class to the maximum temperature on the windings
Without forgetting that the environmental temperature also plays an important role in all of this.
