Fans with advanced sleeve bearings in direct current, also known as H version, are part of the Esmeris range of the Fandis catalog and offer numerous pros. In a previous article on our blog, we have already analyzed the difference between the use of ball bearings and sleeve bearings in compact fans.
In this article, instead, we will analyze the improvements introduced by this new H version with advanced sleeve support, which will gradually replace the standard sleeve bearings, improving the reliability of the fan and eliminating some mechanical components such as O-rings and rubber washers.
The limits of sleeve bearings support in compact fans
As already analyzed, the lubricating oil is vital for the correct functioning of the sleeve bearings.
Our frame fans are equipped with low friction and high wear resistance ferrous copper sleeve. The high temperature supplied by the friction of the sleeve causes the lubricating oil to evaporate, slowly managing to escape through small spaces, functional to the construction of the product, present on the upper opening of the shaft bushing and in the rubber cap, below the product label.
Consequently, with long and continuous operation, the impeller shaft may be subject to seizure due to the friction deriving from the sulfides generated by the lubricating oil and rubber during rotation at high temperatures: this translates into a reduced lifespan of the fan, as well as a gradual increase in the noise of metal friction, due to the progressive lack of lubrication.
The solutions offered by the advanced sleeve bearings
The innovative advanced bushing oil containment system includes:
- a long lasting abrasion resistant sleeve
- a closed single wear washer design
- a sealing oil outlet bush with U-shaped support
- a metal oil cap
These measures eliminate infiltration and evaporation of the lubricating oil and, as a result, greatly improve oil protection and lubricant service life.
In addition, the enclosed design of the shaft-mounted wear-resistant washer improves the magnetically floating operation of the fan blades.
Add to this the integral oil guard design, which results in greatly improved fan efficiency, which not only increases the guaranteed lifespan, but also greatly reduces the noise level, which previously gradually increased proportionally to the loss of lubricating oil and wear of the sleeve.
In addition to containing the lubricating oil, we have improved the fixing and magnetic stabilization of the impeller, to generate a more balanced rotation and effectively prevent displacement of the impeller on its axis, thus considerably limiting wear on the internal part of the sleeve bearing.
All the modifications described now allow a fan equipped with an advanced sleeve bearings support to be able to operate also in a vertical position.
At the expense of a slightly higher price, we summarize here the characteristics of frame fans with advanced sleeve bearings support, compared to the standard.
Advanced sleeve bearings frame fans (H version):
- mount in any orientation*
- maximum operating temperature 70°C
- high product life expectancy (about +30%)
- silent at low speeds
- lubricant loss and evaporation zeroed
Standard sleeve bearings frame fans:
- horizontal mounting only
- maximum operating temperature <70°C
- low life expectancy of the product
- silent at low speeds
- more oily lubricants and more subject to evaporation
