In Fandis, we know that proper ventilation is important, in electrical panels, but also in our homes or offices!
The quality of the air inside a house is important, both for the well-being of those who spend many hours there, and to keep the structure of the building “healthy”.
Among the factors that affect air quality, we find temperature and humidity: the ideal temperature, in fact, should be between 18° and 20°C and the humidity should be between 40% and 60%.
The presence of people in a closed environment is enough to increase the concentration of water vapor, therefore humidity, which associated with pollution (steam, smoke, deodorants…) can cause serious health problems to people and damage to walls.
Steam, mold and condensation
Do you know that an adult or a large animal, like a dog, can produce up to 1 liter of water vapor in 24 hours and that drying a laundry can produce more than 2 liters?
If this is compounded by the defects that a building can have in terms of insulation, the presence of aquariums and ornamental plants, the production of steam during cooking or household cleaning, it’s easy to see how all this humidity can, at long go, produce superficial condensation phenomena on the walls that cause the classic black molds or even interstitial condensation inside the walls, if composed of more layers of materials or counter-walls, causing mold and unpleasant odors.
In fact, exactly as it happens inside an electrical panel, even the walls can suffer from condensation.
How to ventilate rooms correctly
In summer, there are no special precautions: thanks to the good weather, we tend to ventilate the house frequently. It would only be advisable to keep the windows closed and the blinds or curtains pushed together to prevent the sun from entering by heating the air, as the outside temperature is usually higher. If an air conditioner is used, however, it’s a good idea to keep doors and windows closed to change the air only early in the morning or late at night, when it’s cold outside, to reduce energy consumption.
In winter, however, more attention must be paid! In order to prevent the formation of molds and avoid energy waste, careful ventilation must be performed in the rooms, every day, even in bad weather, so that the moisture produced by people and household activities is disposed of. To do this, just open several windows in different rooms for 5-10 minutes and create an air flow, repeating the operation twice a day. In this way, a complete dehumidification of the environment will be obtained, without excessively losing heat.
Do not overdo ventilation
In any season, however, it is always better not to exaggerate with ventilation, both for reasons of energy saving, and for the excessive presence of dust, pollution and dust that unintentionally can enter our homes! Excessive aeration, in fact, can increase heating costs by up to 30%, without any reduction in mold, which… would fit!
To keep the air quality in your homes and offices under control, use a thermostat with hygrostat: in this way you can keep the situation under control, and intervene when it is most appropriate!
We don’t produce this kind of equipment for domestic use, but if instead you are looking for a solution for enclosures ventilation, then you are in the right blog!
