Among the various cooling solutions inside an electrical panel, filter fan units are the most widespread solutions. In fact, with an appropriate configuration, these products are able to allow both an adequate exchange of air and an effective dissipation of the heat released by the electrical and electronic components, helping to avoid overheating.
How to configure the installation of filter fans?
Filter fans can be installed with different configurations, depending on the ventilation and air distribution needs, but also according to the position of the electrical panel within the production line or on board machines.
Standard configuration on side wall
In its standard application, the filter fan is mounted in the lower part of the cabinet, on the side wall, to introduce cooler outside air and expel the warm on from the exhaust filter positioned in the upper area. In this way, the generated air flow prevents the formation of hotspots and protects the components from overheating.
In the Fandis FF series fan filter units, it is possible to use the appropriate cut-out template, so that the ventilation unit can be installed in the break-in, hooking the clips to the sheet metal with a simple pressure and without the use of tools. The bigger part of the fan will therefore be inside the cabinet, leaving only a thin profile of the product on the outside.
Standard configuration on thicker sidewall
On enclosures made of plastic or with very thick sheet metal wall (up to 16 mm), the installation of a filter fan unit with a jack fixing system is recommended. The Virdis GF series from, for example, offers the advantage of rapid external installation, without further drilling and extremely rapid replacement of the filter mat, thanks to the tilting structure of the protection grille.
Standard “space-saving” configuration
However, the ever-increasing density of the components inside the panel and the consequent problem of air circulation can sometimes require different solutions to dissipate the heat, to save space. For these situations, where a smaller installation depth is required, Fandis offers the FPFA adapter: a plastic frame that allows the installation of the fan filter unit in a semi-recessed position in the electrical panel, so as to reduce the internal dimensions.
Roof configuration
For cabinet sets, installations in narrow spaces or where it is not possible to leave sufficient air intakes on the side walls, the forced ventilation can instead be conveyed through special fans, installed on the top of the panel.
Alongside our offer of TP roof exhaust units, Fandis has recently implemented its range of fans with a solution that favors the extraction of large volumes of air and quantities of heat, with a flush installation instead of the usual built-in one .
