The maintenance of enclosures is mandatory by law and is an operation that strictly concerns safety at work: in general, for the correct operation of the panel, but also during these same control operations.
The electrical or control enclosures, in fact, require certain operating conditions so that the components inside them can work perfectly and their correct maintenance is necessary to guarantee the functioning of all the components for longer. Not scheduling these operations on a regular basis inevitably leads to premature aging of the equipment and even to the loss of the minimum safety levels required.
Presence of live voltage during enclosure maintenance operations
During maintenance operations, the safety factor is decisive. In fact, according to the needs, the operator can also work with the panel in tension and must be able to know it. To make the inspection of the enclosures safe, it would be advisable to install a flashing signaling device, which indicates the presence of voltage, remembering that it can lead to dangerous situations. Thanks to the possibility of integration with auxiliary contacts, such as limit switches or additional interlock, it’s possible to activate or deactivate other devices and illuminate the inside of the electrical panel when the door is opened.
Correct lighting is an ally of safety
During the inspection of the enclosure, it’s also essential to have good lighting to avoid installation errors, repairs or cable recognition. Fandis offers a LED lamp, Lumeis FLL series, with adjustable body that allows illuminating a specific work area.
When to schedule maintenance of the electrical panel?
Operations on the enclosures are often corrective or in any case, the frequency of maintenance operations is based on estimates or experiences acquired over time, to minimize the risk of breakdowns.
Predictive maintenance allows instead to identify which element could break, thanks to the development of device behavior models, based on the analyzed data, and to be able to plan operations at the most appropriate time.
For this reason too, Fandis has developed Sensis, the thermal management device of electrical panels, capable of recording the measured data of temperature, humidity and ventilation efficiency, and detecting events useful for preventive diagnostics of your electrical panel.
