Today at SPS Italia Fandis presents Sensis the new intelligent device for the interactive climate management for electrical enclosures. One device, small in size, which allows you to adjust and monitor, even remotely, the ventilation and heating of the electrical panel.
Industry 4.0 and IoT in enclosures
To maintain the best climatic conditions that guarantee the correct life cycle of electrical and electronic components installed in enclosure, Fandis has developed an innovative solution for temperature management in Industry 4.0 perspective.
Already in 2017, Fandis participated in SPS IPC Drives, extending its presence to the area dedicated to Know How 4.0, with an application case of Industrial IoT, in a team with other companies. The role of Fandis in the team has been the thermal management through new devices able to acquire, aggregate and historicize information from the machine which they are housed in. The prototype has now become a reality, and it’s called Sensis: a system for acquiring and controlling the climate conditions of the electrical panel, able to detect the efficiency of ventilation, relative humidity, the average and critical temperatures, and manage the operation of the devices.
Sensis by Fandis and the digital revolution of thermal management
Sensis represents the digital revolution of thermal management in electrical panels, because it allows monitoring, detection and management of thermal parameters. The intelligent Fandis device is based on the ARM microcontroller architecture, able to control and supervise the climatic conditions inside the panel, carrying out the function of a digital thermo-hygrostat with programmable differential, according to the specific requirement of the system in which they are housed in. In addition, it has sensors that can be easily placed in the most critical areas of the electrical panel, to measure the temperature in up to three different zones, monitoring the efficiency of ventilation, cooling or heating systems to plan maintenance in a predictive way.
What does Sensis from Fandis do?
- Control: Sensis measures the temperature from one up to three different points in the enclosure, combines the values with the relative measured humidity and constantly monitors the efficiency of the ventilation systems, thanks to an anemometric sensor applicable to any type of installation.
- Monitor: Sensis records the critical events useful for predicting the risks on active components in the cabinet, such as peak values, exceeding critical thresholds or opening the cabinet door, tracing the time, date and duration over time, allowing to combine all information for diagnostic purposes in a predictive way.
- Manage: Sensis simultaneously correlates the different climatic values measured in the enclosure with the surrounding environment, supervising the efficiency of the actuators to maintain optimal working conditions.
- Interface: Sensis develops in a wide range of models for compatibility with the main field buses and can bypass the PLC by transmitting via OPC-UA or MQTT on the same physical channel.
Sensis by Fandis, the interactive climate management of the electrical enclosure, in the space of a thermostat
How much space can a system occupy to control, detect, manage the electrical panel and interact with the operator? Nobody. Sensis measures only 35 x 98 x 118 mm, and can be installed in place of the existing thermostat or hygrostat, during the revamping operations.
We know well that space inside the cabinet is a resource that must be seriously managed, both in the design phases and in the updating of its components. Four different functions, but in the same space.
Why does Sensis from Fandis improve the management of the electrical panel?
Technology is really at the service of man with Sensis. In addition to monitoring the temperature, humidity and operating the ventilation or heating devices, Sensis allows real-time display of the climate data of the panel remotely, integrate with the SCADA systems and track trends over time. In this way, we will have a “historical” view of the variations and of the problematic events, to guarantee a more targeted intervention and to plan maintenance in a predictive way.
Moreover, thanks to the “event-monitor” function, it’s possible to record any alarms, the date and time in which they occurred and, if connected to the network, send an alert email to a predefined address.
The different Sensis models are designed according to the interfacing technology: from the simplest one based on the RS485 standard up to the models suitable for the most common field buses.
Installation simple and intuitive
Sensis wiring includes standard removable terminals and a 24 Vdc power supply, for easy installation both in completely new cabinets and in the revamping of existing complex systems. The human-machine interface, based on a graphic display, allows you to monitor the main values, set the setpoints and other setup data in local mode before the device is connected to the network or to a master unit.
