Last month we told you about the different types of fan, remember? Well, someone has found an original application for radial fans: a shelter from the rain.
On kickstarter.com, a famous platform for creative projects found rising, was launched Air Umbrella, an umbrella that works… with the air!
A kind of magic wand, rechargeable, that thanks to a battery and a fan is able to form an air dome as a shelter from snow and rain.
As a result of collaboration between some graduates of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in China, Air Umbrella measures only 30 cm per 500 grams of weight, in its smaller size, and it can practically be placed in any handbag! While, in its most complete version, can weigh about 850 grams, with extendable handle up to 80 cm.
The battery life is limited from 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the model, but it can be fully charged in one hour. In addition, it is extremely quiet and the battery can last up to 3 years.
The project has excited so much to convince a public of 825 supporters and raise more than $ 100,000 in a very short time, compared to the $ 10,000 demanded by its creators to face the first models charges of production.
At this time, Air Umbrella is being finalized, they will try to improve the design, adding a display to show the battery life and the active functions. Its production will begin by the end of next year… just in time for the 2015 holiday gift list!
