3D printers can do almost anything: from the key ring, to prototypes, to implants… even replicate pieces in order to build a second 3D printer!
But have you ever thought of printing a house?
37 square meters in 24 hours, at 270 euro per meter. It’s the challenge won by the Russian company Apis Cor and realized thanks to a 3D printer with concrete extruder, an idea that promises to revolutionize the concept of housing!
The house has a circular shape and is entirely made of cement and according to Apis Core it’s built to last at least 175 years.
The final cost?
Apis Cor has created this 37 square meters house, complete with its interiors, for less than $ 10,000 (just over 9,500 euros) and in a single day: kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom.
The price includes all the construction work, the materials for the foundation, the roof, the interior and exterior finishes, the heating installation, the windows and, of course, walls and ceilings.
In few words, a house at the cost of a small car.
Apis Cor isn’t the first company in the world to print in 3D houses or modules for homes, but for now it’s the only one to have a technology that can work directly on the ground to be built. The other 3D printers capable of working with cement and in actual size, in fact, so far only allowed the printing of individual pieces – walls, pillars, slabs, etc. – that must then be assembled on site.
Forget large investment, complicated projects and brick walls one above the other: the new house will be printed!
The strength of this machine is its crane shape, which, thanks to the rotating head from which cement is extruded, allows the printer to work roundly, around the construction, reaching each point: this is also the reason of the bizarre appearance of the house.
The printer of Apis Cor is also extraordinarily fast, in fact, the solution was taken into consideration especially for the speed with which it could provide shelter to people affected by natural disasters or distressed.
