How is it possible to guarantee an effective climate supervision in electrical panels, which could guarantee, at the same time, the interaction of all the data collected?
Climate supervision and predictive maintenance in IIoT
We have already seen, talking about predictive maintenance, that regulation devices, in addition to managing and monitoring temperatures, humidity, efficiency of cooling and ventilation systems, can now offer a real added value if interconnected to the factory network and to the cloud. We have also seen how traditional regulation systems are generally of low complexity, even when they are based on microprocessor electronic architectures. The first step is therefore to have IIoT controls also for the apparently simpler on-board systems and to record every critical event that could lead to a potential risk of failure.
What is useful to monitor in a correct climate supervision process?
In a system cooled by a simple forced ventilation system, efficiency is maximum when the filter is perfectly clean and gradually goes down with the deposition of impurities collected from the environment. Controlling the air flow by setting minimum safety thresholds can be useful, but the correlation of the data provides the analytics or predictive maintenance softwares with even more valuable information, to extend the life of the components and to avoid machine stops or breakdowns. To get a better description of the situation, several factors need to be supervised.
For example:
- instantaneous flow rate of the cooling air
- drift of the temperature in one or more points inside the on-board enclosure
- speed with which the measured values vary over time
- concomitance of events with specific phases of the process.
Compatibility with global standards in climate supervision systems
The thermal management coherent with the Industry 4.0 paradigm is therefore reached only with controllers interconnected to the network.
This is why the new Sensis smart device from Fandis operating in interoperability with the widespread global standards (Profibus, Profinet, ASI, Modbus, IO-Link, etc.) for direct access to the SCADA level, but also devices directly “IIoT-ready”, that can dissolve the classic automation pyramid with all of its layers, are a reality for Fandis, thanks to the vertical integration and to the MQTT and OPC-UA protocols, in the space of one classic electromechanical thermostat (measuring only 35 x 98 x 118 mm).
