Foreign companies wishing to export their products to USA and Canada must comply with different and stricter requirements than those required by the European Union. This is true both for the design and construction of machines but also for electrical and electronic components.
Conformity marks
In the European market, i.e., the manufacturer declares to comply with the minimum safety requirements listed in EU directives through the CE mark. In the North American and Canadian market, however, compliance with the standards of electrical and electronic machinery and equipment is verified by AHJ Authorities Having Jurisdiction and manufacturers can submit the products to certification by NRTL – Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories, such as UL o CSA or Intertek.
